“At some point I realized that bikes were my thing, so I just started embracing it” says the founder and CEO of GBN Manufaktura. His scrutinizing gaze wanders the production floor, passes focused colleagues working the assembly line, brushes frames and handlebars ready to be mounted. “I take an interest in all the facets of bikes: The sport and the engineering, from working on a bike to the aesthetics of a beautiful model.”
Sebastian started his own business because in addition to assembling bikes, he wants to shape the process of how they are assembled. In his manufactory, he encourages the true co-operation of team and clients. A mutual concept of quality is the basis for this type of teamwork, as well as its daily compass.
It’s that firm focus on the quality process as well as the accompanying service which let GBN Manufaktura stand out. Innumerous small substeps lead to the high-end solutions. They are rarely conceived from the outside but make all the difference.
For these solutions, it takes a whole lot more than rigid production plans. “There always remains a dynamic element in our scheduled daily operations. It’s something that I really like about the flexible setup of our company, that we are basically able to react at any time”, says Sebastian. A colleague catches his glance, they both nod almost imperceptibly. No big words needed; the understanding has become almost intuitive.
The CEO himself has remained flexible: When he is needed, he will still work the assembly line, do prep work or packaging. “We’re a team. This team has committed to delivering quality work and as CEO, I am simply a representative of that quality work” he says matter-of-factly and pushes a fully loaded frame trolley into the next workshop.
